Promising
new underground metal, worthy of a few punches at the mainstream,
Choleric seize hardcore and death metal influences and combine
them into one hell of a powerful sound. It reminded me of
Scar Culture, another great band. The Scar Culture influence
comes from the voice tone and guitar settings. The deep throaty
growl and the heavy pounding guitar just sound so good. The
demo we heard was well put together, and had a lot of effort
put into it. Given the right promotion and a bit of luck,
these guys could make a major label debut someday.
One
of the more interesting songs to hear was "When the Sun Goes
Down". This song utilized a familiar Arabian riff to get its
point across. It was kind of funny to hear at first, but it
really held together and made a superb song. The favorite
of the bunch was "Friends Like You" which had the best overall
riff and lyrical work (and had us moving like crazy).
The
three songs ended way too quickly though. It would be nice
to see an independent release and even catch a few live shows
to really see what they're about.
