The Daredevil OST is one of the biggest soundtracks of the year to go along with one of the biggest movies of the year. This highly anticipated release is packed with a ton of hot artists, and offers brand new songs from every single one of them. Sounds good so far, but is it worth the purchase?

It's more then worth a purchase. The strong tracks from Boysetsfire, Saliva, The Calling, Seether, Nickelback, Chevelle, Revis, and Finger Eleven are worth the price of admission themselves. Each track offers the distinct sounds of the various bands. You'll know within a few seconds what band you're listening to, and that's exactly the kind of response you look for in an OST. Surprisingly, the most anticipated track with Drowning Pool and Rob Zombie falls way short of expectations. Maybe the hype overshadowed the substance, but Drowning Pool clearly is not the same without Dave Williams.

Another small letdown is Evanescence. While "Bring Me to Life" rocks out and fits with the rest of the CD, "My Immortal" seems too out of place with its gentle ambiance and distinction of an easy listening tune. Most people who pick up the CD will probably end up skipping over the track.

With Evanescence due out in March, Boysetsfire and Revis due out in April, and Endo due out in May, the album serves as a savory taste of what's to come from these artists. Hopefully the movie provides as much enjoyment as the soundtrack does.
