As
one of the most respected metal bands out there, Glassjaw
has a unique emo-hardcore sound going for them that no other
band can simply match. Their newest outing "Worship and Tribute"
(produced by Ross Robinson) continues the Glassjaw tradition
with an in your face hardcore and melodic slugfest aimed to
knock the mainstream around a little.
Worship
and Tribute is very melody heavy, having more soft songs then
one would anticipate. The lyrical work is deep, flowing, top
notch material that is sometimes ruined by a whiney scream
or two, but nothing too distracting. Making up for the softness
is a uniquely blasting, aggressive onslaught utilizing riffs
that aren't overused by every other wannabe rock band out
there. The music is catchy at times, nothing like pop catchy,
but something more intricate and perfect for the avid rock
listener. "Cosmopolitan Bloodloss" offers a perfect example
of this with its chorus. Every instrument and song comes together
in a complete package that is expected to please. The songs
titles alone show the originally present within the band.
The angst and overall power isn't as intense as their previous
albums were, but it still hits, and hits hard.
These
guys are also going to be on Ozzfest this year, something
that shouldn't be missed. If you haven't heard these guys
yet, pick up this cd and "Everything You Wanted To Know About
Silence". You won't regret it.
