Hatebreed has been a band for 13 years. That’s a pretty long time for a band of any genre, let alone a hardcore/metal band. In 13 years, Hatebreed has earned a soft spot in the hearts of millions of people, including myself. Kids with big pants. Tough dudes. Not tough dudes, and that girl that works at hot topic who should spend more time reading and educating herself than worrying about how many more bracelets she can get around her wrists. Hatebreed has undeniably been a huge crossover band from underground to mainstream. Their latest effort “Supremacy” is another 13 tracks of Hatebreed doing what they do best. Jamie is still really really pissed, the guitars are still bone crushing, the drums are a kick in the dick, and Roadrunner Recs. has themselves another top selling record.

I honestly don’t have a lot to say about “Supremacy”. It’s really no different than any other Hatebreed record. The production has stepped up a little bit, but the song writing is still the same. If I was new to the band and I sat down and listened to all their records, I wouldn’t be able to tell “Supremacy” apart from any thing else they’ve ever recorded. Don’t get me wrong, I do like it, and I’m sure if you’re already a Breed fan, you will too. It’s heavy, it’s fast, it’s got it’s ups and downs, (especially “Destroy everything”) however “Supremacy” is nothing new from a band… and a genre that really doesn’t have much more to offer, except adding pop hooks, and sweet guitar solos…but that is completely unnecessary with a band like this. They do what they do well, and they will be heard.
