When
you think of Heavy Metal you think of old school bands such
as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica and Megadeth. Putting
a band that comes out now, in that group is very hard to do.
It seems all the reviews classify this band as heavy metal
or metal. Personally wouldnt go that far at all.
Soil
is a 5-piece nu-metal/hard rock band from Chicago. A very
well balanced band with a nu-metal sound and great deep rusty
vocals. The guitars are very powerful force with a loud and
in your face style, comparing to a Black Label Society.
Their
first single "Halo" has been rocking the radio waves
for awhile now, catching a lot of attention of many metal
fans. "Halo" has a very catchy drumline, good chorus,
and the guitar tears it up. If thiese guys continue to do
this they will stir up some fans all over. Opening
on a huge tour with Statc-X andf Soulfly should lift this
band even higher than they are now.
But,
there seems to be something missing in all this. Throughout
the album the same sound is kept. Nothing really changes in
the diversity of the music. There are more hits on this album
as long as you can handle "Halo", if you cant, then
the rest is worthless.
That
is why for the low review, there just isnt much variation
in the music throughout the album. Gets kinda boring 5 songs
in or so. If you are a fan of the Godsmack style of hard-rock,
then dive in.
