Subject
to change is exactly how the title said it would be, the advance
copy of this album was available since last year, and the
album had seen numerous delays and a few changes. Their major
label debut off Immortal has been anticipated for a long time,
and the final copy is one of the best metal CDs I have heard
this year (and last year).
Songs
like "Religion", "Four Walls", "Walk Away", "Reflections",
"Skins", and "Inside" are some of the heaviest yet melodical
tunes of metal bliss you will ever hear. The anger and emotion
present is so powerful, you become part of it. You feel the
intensity, the rage, and at the same time you totally enjoying
the amazing riff work and song melody. Ben Schigel's dramatic
vocals pound out the screams and soften up the melodies, a
very good mix indeed. A dark atmosphere with rock done right
is an excellent reflection of the album. Not as powerful as
Slayer, but hey it's not supposed to be. Nu metal? I don't
think so. The album is too good to be labeled anywhere near
that genre. This is an all out release of aggression.
For
those of you interested in seeing these guys in action, they
are playing the latter half of Ozzfest 2002, something that
should not be missed by any means. The CD shouldn't be looked
over either. Check it out, you won't be sorry.
