Tom Petty is like Johnny Cash, he can't make a bad album. First there is Tom Petty's voice which has that sad reminiscent quality that doesn't depress but gives that "isn't life tragically beautiful" feeling. Then there is the strongly developed Tom Petty country-esque guitar style.

The Last DJ is a great record to throw on during a rainy day or a game of cards. The majority of the lyrical content is an exploration of life issues- a statement against the blood sucking industry that obviously has no interest in art, violent youth, and love.

This isn't Petty's best album nor is it ground breaking or experimental but why change something if it's not broken?
